This website collects as little as it can. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third party watching you read this page. What follows is the detail behind that.

What we collect
Two things, and only two.
What you send us
If you email us, we have your email address, your name if you sign it, and whatever you chose to write. We use it to answer you and to do the work if we end up working together. We do not use it for anything else and we do not add you to a mailing list.
Server logs
Our hosting provider records ordinary web server logs when a page is requested: the IP address, the time, the page, and the browser’s user agent. This is how a web server works and it is what lets us see whether the site is up and being attacked. We do not link these logs to anyone and we do not use them to build a profile.
Where the site runs
This website is hosted by Greenhost, a Dutch provider whose servers sit in a data centre in Amsterdam and run on renewable energy. Your request never leaves the Netherlands to reach this page.
What we do not do
- No analytics of any kind. We do not know how many people visit this site.
- No advertising and no advertising networks.
- No tracking cookies. See Cookies.
- No social media buttons, embedded video, or third party widgets.
- Fonts are served from our own server, so no request goes to Google or anyone else.
- We never sell personal data. There is no arrangement under which we could.
Legal basis
Under the GDPR we rely on legitimate interest for server logs, since running a website securely requires them. For email we rely on legitimate interest to answer you, and on performance of a contract once we are working together.
How long we keep it
- Server logs: kept briefly by our hosting provider and then discarded.
- Email: kept while the conversation is relevant, and for as long as tax and administrative law requires us to keep records of work we have done. In the Netherlands that is seven years for financial records.
Who else sees it
Greenhost, because the site runs on their servers, and our email provider, because that is where email arrives. Both are in the European Union. Nobody else. We do not transfer personal data outside the EU.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, or object to us holding it at all. Email support@gallatin.nl and we will answer within a month.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle it, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. We do not keep an archive of old versions, because this is a small site and the policy is short enough to read again.
